GTE’s Combustion and Fuels Manufacturing and Engineering Group, is a leader in design, repair and refurbishment of combustion systems, components and assemblies for most major models of gas turbine combustion and fuel systems.
At the heart of the GTE growth engine is proven industry manufacturing and technology talent. GTE’s combustion and fuels technology team is comprised of proven, recognized, sought-after experts in modeling, fluids and structural mechanics design, and combustion repair specialists. The team is routinely called upon by leading OEMs and End Users to solve issues concerning performance, availability, parts life and emissions. GTE relies heavily on experience and modeling capabilities to predict expected performance in lieu of costly hardware prototyping and testing.
GTE recognizes that the Energy industry will be increasingly shaped by the combination of rapidly escalating fuel costs, environmental regulations and energy demand. This combination creates challenges for the global installed base as they must adapt to alternate and varying qualities of fuels, cyclic operation, and tougher emissions targets, all with a potentially significant impact on the assets economic pro forma. GTE has built a Fuels and Combustion platform capable of addressing these emerging dynamics and is ready to serve all of your Combustion needs.

Combustion Design

GTE products and systems are designed using a combination of analytical and experimental tools. GTE products are geometrically modeled with SolidWorks. Finite Element Structural analysis is performed with ANSYS for prediction of component temperature, stress, displacements and vibration. The aero, pressure drop, heat transfer
and emissions performance of these systems is modeled with the Computational Fluid Dynamics Code STAR-CD.
Turbine and power plant cycle performance is modeled using GATECYCLE. In addition to these computational tools, GTE makes use of laboratory wind tunnel and field testing with advanced instrumentation to measure and validate the performance of combustion systems and components as well as other GTE products.
